Although the Butter & Sugar Brigade loves to be adventurous and try recipes from all over, we have a few tried-and-true cookbooks and websites that we constantly refer to for no-fail recipes. Here’s a brief list of some of our favorites:
- Martha Stewart’s Baking Handbook – a veritable bible of baking, with everything from breakfast baked goods to fancy wedding cakes
- Martha Stewart’s Cupcakes – another go-to by the Queen of Cakes, we’ve had not a single bad experience with the recipes from this sugary tome
- Martha Stewart’s Cookies – yes, another Martha book, the publication of which made the Brigade forgive her for her insider trading scandal
- Baked: New Frontiers in Baking – the boys from this Brooklyn-based bakery really know how to make a brownie
- Baked Explorations – a second title from the Baked boys offers new twists on classic recipes
- Indulgence Cupcakes – a book by Christabel Martin, with elegant and quirky takes on tiny little cakes
- Ming Makes Cupcakes – a unique no-frills site with recipes for cookies and savory items as well as cupcakes
- The America’s Test Kitchen Family Baking Book – a great go-to for classic recipes and infinitely useful tips
